Welcome to Episode #228 of the Own Your Best Life Podcast.
The end of year haze is lifting and the January + February intentions have started some new momentum. Now is the perfect time to really focus on what it is you want next.
In today’s podcast, I’m going to share with you The Spiritual Achiever Roadmap®, which are the four phases we experience as we move from stuck to a breakthrough career and life.
I created this The Spiritual Achiever Roadmap® through the patterns I noticed in my work with leaders dealing with change and transition in their lives. I noticed that people often would lose confidence in themselves partway through a career change or a life change when in reality, this feeling of disappointment, struggle or uncertainty is not just normal but also expected.
They don’t need to start over their entire lives or careers or businesses over again because they either don’t see success as quickly as they’d like in this new area. They just need to understand the process of change so that they don’t burn out and quit in the process of achieving.
How do we stay in the process of change long enough to see the step-change of results and outcome we desire?
The answer is that we need to lead ourselves through this The Spiritual Achiever Roadmap® process. As I studied change, I learned that one of the ways that we can help ourselves in these situations and to not spiral downwards into overwhelm and anxiety for too long is to set expectations of the challenges and difficulty coming our way.
When you set expectations, you know what help you need, how it will feel in the process and have faith that you will figure it out.
These 4 phases will be part of your career transition whether you’re changing what you do, how you do it (the way you work in terms of leadership, time, energy and stress) or both.
The first phase is Awareness. In this phase, you can see what your ideal outcome is and you’re learning why you feel far from that outcome. It’s all about clarity, focus and breaking free from your old identity of a person who used to work or live a certain way. We assess where we are now to understand how to get to where we want to be. This will look like audits and assessments of what drives you, your strengths and motivators.
We need to do this because life is all about change, and when we do not accept that change is happening right now, we stay stuck where we are, stressed and resisting how things have already moved around us. This stress is sapping our energy.
In this first phase, one of the key milestones is assessing what’s most important and clarifying that next role, job or focus area for your life and work. We’ll recognize the hidden patterns and motivators – our blind spots that might have come with our old identities.
When our awareness of our priorities and what truly matters increases, we are less confused about what we want. We identify our zones of genius. We get more clear on our message and brand.
The second phase is Optimization. In this phase, we align time, energy and decision-making to create sustainable, high-performance. We work on a decision-making framework that I call Leadership in Flow, which helps us trust ourselves and eliminate indecision. We also learn how to calibrate our energy after we become aware of our energy. We learn how to shift our energy intentionally so that we increase our productivity and intuition.
Instead of doing the same things and getting the same results you have in the past, this is where we create new and different routines so we feel an increased amount of energy for work and life, which translates into more presence, less stress and more financial freedom.
We spend less time listening to things that don’t truly matter, doomscrolling on social media and the news goes down, we buy and consume less of what we don’t need and we take that increased energy and resources to create more value in the world.
The third phase is Mastery. In this third phase, we focus on sustaining success, scaling our impact and making deeply aligned decisions. This looks like aligning your career with purpose, energy leadership for impact, mastering pacing for long-term success, public speaking as a spiritual practice, the intersection of achievement and fulfillment and the spiritual side of decision-making. We focus on thriving without burnout and sustaining high-performance and mastery with ease.
We now have the bandwidth and capacity to do whatever it is we’ve always wanted to do. Start a business, lead more people, have more impact, spend more quality time with family, feel healthier.
The fourth phase is Embodiment and Impact. In this fourth phase, we make this our new normal. We align career, leadership, and life so success isn’t a mountain top you’re struggling to achieve—it’s who you are. Specifically, we focus on being the architect of your life, the Prioritization Process, your personal leadership style, how to go from vision to reality, a year-end reflection and celebration and manifesting your best life for the following year.
As we create more value, we are compensated accordingly. This isn’t just financial compensation although that’s likely to occur – this includes emotional connection, community building, supporting our families and creating inter-generational benefits.
These are the four phases. Most high achievers get stuck because they’re either trapped in old patterns with hidden blind spots, working harder than necessary, or struggling to sustain their success. I take clients through this Spiritual Achiever Roadmap® to unlock clarity on what they want next in their career and life, align their energy, and lead more effortlessly.
No more spinning in circles trying to “figure it out.” The Spiritual Achiever Roadmap® ensures that we have a focus on what’s next. What also makes this different is that most success frameworks focus on either strategy or spirituality. This is the only system that fully integrates both so we can scale our success while feeling more alive than ever.
This isn’t about spending years untangling limiting beliefs. The right activation unlocks results immediately. This is a deep transformation with actionable strategies and fast shifts that create a longer-term way of living and working.
We experience these 4 phases in as little as a month or as long as a year because we are working through different kinds of change in our lives. For example, the first change if you’re starting a business might be understanding who you’re here to serve and what you want to do next. You’ll gain awareness of your zones of genius and value proposition, start to optimize your life by sharing your personal brand on social media and make it part of your routine, you’ll build mastery as you get more reps in of working with your ideal clients and then in the fourth phase embody it by being known for your work and bringing more people in to help or support you.
If it’s so clear though, why doesn’t everyone do it? The answer is that we have natural obstacles and resistance to change.
Specifically, what often comes up when we think about what’s next, are these questions.
What about time?
How much time does it take to make these shifts? We already have so much to do. This isn’t about adding more to your plate—it’s about reducing the fire drills, mental drama that takes up time and energy – so success happens with more ease.
Shouldn’t I be able to do this on my own?
The other obstacle that comes up when we think about changing how we work or live is thinking we should have figured it out by now and that we should be able to figure it out on our own. This is where achievers often go to die.
We dig in, self-isolate and “try harder” which is the antithesis of where we actually are in our leadership journey. At this point, we’ve proven we can get things done and “do the work.” This isn’t the challenge. What the challenge is at this point is taking a different kind of risk.
The risk of letting go of complete control. We are learning how to bring more people together. We are at a point in our leadership journey where asking for help and building teams of support are expected.
Doing it all by ourselves instead of delegating or asking for thought partners to work with us is like trying to run a big project with no resources. We don’t figure it all out on our own at work, why would we do the same with how we work and our next steps in our careers? We’ve already tried figuring out what’s next by ourselves. The Spiritual Achiever Roadmap® works because it finally connects the dots between strategy, mindset, and energy – and gives you the tools to truly build teams and delegate. To know the difference between when it’s a “you” problem or a “them” problem.
Will this work for me? I’m different.
Another obstacle is not being sure if a process like this will work for us. We all have a different journey and different experiences that make us different. What I also know through my work in transforming both organizations and their ways of working – and with individuals who are transforming who they are becoming, is that change follows a similar journey across the board. This process is a step-by-step change management system that adapts to us as individuals – where we are and what we need next.
We don’t have to keep feeling stuck, misaligned, or exhausted trying but not seeing results. If you’re ready to make success feel more effortless, aligned, and deeply fulfilling, I invite you to take the next step.
